Heaps Decent is an Australian organisation empowering young people through skills building, cultural access and creativity.

WILCANNIA AND FAR-WEST SESSIONS

June 22, 2022

A portion of any donation we receive goes to funding out Far-West Sessions. This year we are delighted to be supported by The Australia Council for the Arts and Create NSW to continue our visits to a number of communities.

Heaps Decent facilitators, armed with professional recording equipment and a whole lot of enthusiasm, lead music production workshops with a large majority of First Nations young people in the community. Joining forces with local organisations such as Wings Drop-In Centre, Heaps Decent facilitates a number of week-long workshop visits.

Workshop participants are trained by Heaps Decent facilitators to record and produce high quality recordings which are theirs to keep and share. Talented visual artists have also been working on projects since 2014. We focus on creating positive and engaging opportunities for young people to express themselves, all the while enhancing creativity and life skills such as teamwork and literacy.

It has been amazing to work with the young people in these communities and watch the project flourish.
