Heaps Decent is an Australian organisation empowering young people through skills building, cultural access and creativity.
Working with underrepresented and marginalised youth, our participatory program of music and visual media activities provides a pathway to discovery, personal growth and agency through self-expression.On Thursday evening we were invited by The Funding Network to pitch our organisation to a room of keen philanthropists, who, based on the strength of the pitches they heard, would make pledges to the organisation of their choice. We were placed up against 3 other organisations, Curious Works, Sydney Story Factory and Gunawirra, all of whom delivered excellent pitches; we had some stiff competition!
Due to the generosity of all those that attended and Creative Partnerships Australia matching every pledge, we raised a whopping $22,550 – much needed funds that will go directly into running workshops at juvenile justice centres around NSW.
We can’t describe our gratitude to The Funding Network for the opportunity to pitch at the event, let alone the incredible people who pledged on the night!
