Skills building, cultural access and creative empowerment for all young people.
Heaps Decent provides a participatory program of music and visual media activities, working with youth who are underrepresented and marginalised. Self-expression provides a pathway to discovery, personal growth and agency.Heaps Decent started back in 2007 at a workshop with Australian locals Nina Las Vegas and DJ Levins, and Mad Decent founder Diplo. The workshop was run in the Northern Territory in the remote town of Maningrida, on Kunibidji country. From this spark Nina and Levins were inspired to build a music program for young people, with early support from guest artists on the Mad Decent label.
