Home Base is our weekly workshop at the Redfern Community Centre. It is run as a drop-in format with young people able to come and record with one of our facilitators in a quality studio.

Home Base welcomes young people drawn from other Heaps Decent and partner programs as well as the local community and all over Sydney and focuses on developing participants as musicians and artists.

A high quality level of production is maintained, targeting skills ranging from lyric writing and beat making to professional conduct.

Performance outcomes are one of the project’s main priorities with some of the young people involved in performances including a sets at Fuzzy’s Curve Ball and Parklife festivals as well as rapping at the Australian Parliament House.

Additional skills development sessions have been supported by APRA AMCOS.
